Pashupati Kumar Paras was on Thursday elected unopposed as the national president of LJP. Pashupati Paras was earlier this week recognized as the floor leader of the party in Lok Sabha in place of Paswan's son Chirag after the rift within the LJP deepened.

5 of the party's six MPs met Lok Sabha Speaker on Sunday and gave him a written request to appoint Paras as their leader in place of Chirag.  Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan accused the JD(U) of working to split his party even when his father was hospitalized last year.
